Bl. Franz Jagerstatter Holy Card

Blessed Franz Jagerstatter was born in 1907 and married in 1936 to his beloved wife, Franni. His life was simple and ordinary, living and working on a farm in Austria with his family. He sought trust in the Lord and his Catholic faith when the rest of his country started to conform to Nazism. Franz pondered obedience to God vs obedience to government authority and voted against the annexation of Austria. He discerned that serving would be a sin and refused to fight. He was arrested and condemned to death by injection. Despite his execution, Franz remained peaceful with his trust never faltering from God, writing beautiful notes to his wife and daughters before his death. “God gives us so much strength that it is possible to bear any suffering.”
