St. Josephine Bakhita Holy Card

Bakhita, “lucky one”. St. Josephine was born in Sudan, kidnapped as a young girl, and brought into slavery. During her time as a slave, she suffered abuse. By the grace of God, she was freed in Italy and sought solace in the Catholic Church by entering the Canossian order. St. Josephine had a joyful spirit and loved well. May we seek her intercession to have joyful hearts amidst suffering or persecution and gratitude for the love of our Heavenly Father.
